About Us

Over the years, FTZMA has played a pivotal role in addressing and resolving numerous challenges and issues with relevant authorities in a professional and timely manner. This proactive approach has earned the association a strong reputation as a dedicated advocate for the interests of entrepreneurs and investors. FTZMA has grown to represent over 75% of enterprises in the Katunayake Export Processing Zone (KEPZ). Over the years, FTZMA has forged strong relationships with business chambers both within and outside Sri Lanka and actively participate in policy-making with relevant government authorities.

Using Katunayake as a model, several other free trade zones have been established across the country. Today, FTZMA's membership spans 09 Free Trade Zones and represents over 1,700 enterprises under the purview of the BOI across all 13 BOI zones and other zones in the country.

FTZMA operates a dedicated and active secretariat within the KEPZ, staffed by permanent personnel who address the daily needs of our member enterprises and maintains close ties with the BOI, the Ministry, and all statutory bodies. It addresses various member concerns, including environmental, labour, infrastructure, legal, customs, immigration, ports, airports, and logistics issues.

As a founding organization of the Joint Apparel Associations Forum (JAAF), the umbrella body for the country's apparel industry, FTZMA continues to play a pivotal role in finding innovative solutions and seize new opportunities to ensure a prosperous path ahead for all BOI enterprises in the country.

Welcome to the Free Trade Zone Manufacturers’ Association (FTZMA), founded in 1981, just three years after Sri Lanka's largest and first Free Trade Zone was established in Katunayake.

Spanning 190 hectares, this zone attracts global enterprises seeking to capitalize on the incentives, infrastructure, and security provided by the Sri Lankan government. FTZMA stands as a pivotal organization supporting manufacturers who aim to leverage these benefits for optimal business growth and profitability.
